Active Foam ; The future of cleaning
The Process
SDS achieves its high standards of cleaning and efficiency through the use of modern day technology to further improve and maximize our potential to provide the best.
The Technology
The active foam provides contact time on a soiled surface to allow the degreasers enough time to do their jobs. Combined with a full machine cleaning method, active foam is delivered to the entire ducting system to ensure the system is cleaned to NFPA standards. Through the use of this method we are able to clean 99 to 100% of ducting systems protecting your business for years to come.
Methodology
Before Cleaning Process
-
Duct systems are surveyed to determine estimated duct configuration, length and dimensions.
-
Internal photographs of ducts and kitchen hoods are taken to determine overall condition.
-
Kitchen operation hours are noted for planning purposes.
-
Problems or weaknesses in system identified if any
During Cleaning Phase
Hood Filters // Electronic Filters
Systems are tested and airflow of system is recorded. ( In the event systems malfunction or do not run this is reported to PIC )
Kitchen Hoods
Fire fighting nozzles will first noted to ensure no damage to units . Degreaser is then sprayed on using the foam box and allowed to sit for a few minutes. Hood is then washed down to remove all dirt ,grease and stains. Lastly hood is wiped down and filters and placed back to their original positions.
Before and after photos are taken for documentation purposes. Pictures of foaming also taken where viable
Access Panels
Access panels are made along the ducting where needed. This allows for ducting to beaccessed for cleaning and inspection purposes. Access panels are also marked withstickers at ceiling boards below for ease of access to conduct post inspections andregular maintenance.
Foam Method ( cleaning of ducting run and fan )
The future of kitchen exhaust duct cleaning. A foaming type degreaser is sprayed onto the internal surface of the duct and allowed to sit for 10-15 minutes depending on levels of accumulation . Then the ducts are rinsed down using high pressure washers. Points along the duct will be designated as water collection areas these coupled with multiple high powered wet vacuums ensure water does not escape into the surrounding area. After all the ducts have been rinsed and water drained the ducts are wiped down to remove any excess remnants of water . Fans are also foamed down to ensure entire fan housing is cleaned alongside the fans to ensure blades do not get caught and damaged on dirt and debris long term. After being rinsed down fans are then vacuumed dry of water and wiped down to remove all remnants of dirt and water.
Degreaser and cleaning agents all ducts are cleaned to bare metal in accordance with NFPA standards rule 96. Utilizing this method SLICK DUCT SERVICES has also eliminated the presence of non accessible areas where ducting does not permit man entry.
The foam method also allows for the cleaning of all vertical ducts within system ensuring that system is 100% cleaned throughout. ( Foam cleaning pamphlet also attached to file for further viewing )
Before and after photos are taken for documentation purposes. Pictures of foaming also taken where viable
Manual cleaning method ( cleaning of ducting run and fan )
A duct cleaning technician will access the duct via access panel created. Cleaning isstarted by scraping the top layer of grease from the ducts. Degreaser is then sprayed onto the internal surface of the ducts and allowed to sit. The duct is then cleaned of all grease.
This method is used alongside the foam method where needed. If system only allows for manual method than the foam method is not applied. ( This is seen where system exhibit heavy damage and very heavy leaking where ducts need to be resealed before attempting the foam method to ensure system is not further compromised )
Sealing of leakages
Visual inspection is conducted during the cleaning process to trace leaking joints. Joints are then cleaned and seal internally and externally utilizing RZ-Ecoseal duct sealant. Dunlop sealant is also used for minor leaks. For heavy duty leaking areas or damaged ducts a recommendation to RZ-Ecoseal duct run will be proposed to future proof system and protect against leaks and further damage.
Upon arrival at site
Systems are tested and airflow of system is recorded. ( In the event systems malfunction or do not run this is reported to PIC )
After scheduled maintenance is done
-
After cleaning operations, all hood filters area installed and all access panels are closed and sealed.
-
The exhaust system will then be tested to ensure everything is in working condition.
-
Post cleaning airflow is also recorded to ensure system is not compromised.
-
All work areas are thoroughly cleaned before handover and a post cleaning report complete with photographs and recommendations will be produced and handed to the customer.
-
If system can benefit from application of RZ-Ecoseal product is proposed for consideration to user.
